In June, after the Trump administration tore infants out of the embrace of their mothers and detained them separately, a handful of Americans expressed their outrage in ways that many deemed uncivil. Most famously at the Red Hen restaurant, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders was asked to leave by the restaurant owner. A woman with her babe well locked in her arms asked then EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt to resign from his post while he was having lunch in another restaurant. Steve Bannon was called a “piece of trash” by a customer in a Virginia bookstore. Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi was heckled at a movie theatre where she went to watch a documentary on Fred Rogers.
